Fit Your Appointment Questions Into the Time You Actually Have

A list of six good questions is useless if the visit ends before the third one.

What this guide helps you do

Turn your question count, minutes a question, the slot length, and small talk into a fit and a shortlist.

Who this guide is for

Anyone preparing questions for a short appointment and wanting a realistic list.

Use the source document or official route that applies to your situation. This guide does not contact another person or verify external information.

Steps

  1. Write the questions

Write each question as one sentence. Count them.

  2. Time the hard one

Give one minute for a yes-or-no answer and three for a question that needs explanation.

  3. Count the other talk

Allow minutes for the greeting, the update, and the exam. The slot is not all questions.

  4. Mark the must-asks

Put the two questions you cannot leave without at the top of the list.

  5. Read the shortlist

The App shows how many questions fit the slot so you can cut the rest.

Worked example

Six questions at three minutes each need 18 minutes. With four minutes of other talk the visit needs 22 minutes, two more than a 20-minute slot.

  1. Question time = 6 questions × 3 minutes = 18 minutes
  2. Total = 18 minutes + 4 minutes of other talk = 22 minutes
  3. Shortfall = 22 - 20 = 2 minutes, so 5 questions fit the slot

Use your own source and details. The example is not a record about a real person or organization.

Compare two worked cases

The same method in two appointment slots. Both are examples.

Both cases are examples, not records about a real person. The bars show the same numbers the free App computes.
