Size a Contrast Fix From the Pairs That Actually Fail

A palette audit produces a fail count, and the fail count is a work estimate once one fix is timed.

What this guide helps you do

Turn pairs checked, pairs failing, and minutes a fix into a failure share and the hours to correct it.

Who this guide is for

Designers and content teams with a color audit report and no plan for the fixes.

Use the source document or official route that applies to your situation. This guide does not contact another person or verify external information.

Steps

  1. Use the audit count

Use the pairs from the audit report, not an estimate of the page count.

  2. Count only failures

Count the pairs below the ratio that applies to their text size.

  3. Time one fix

Change a token, recheck the pair, and time the whole loop.

  4. Read the share

The failure share shows whether this is a token change or a palette rewrite.

  5. Read the hours

The App multiplies the failing pairs by your minutes a fix.

Worked example

Fourteen failing pairs out of 60 is 23.3 percent. At 12 minutes a pair the fixes take 168 minutes, or 2.80 hours.

  1. Failure share = 14 ÷ 60 = 23.3 percent
  2. Minutes = 14 pairs × 12 = 168
  3. Hours = 168 ÷ 60 = 2.80 hours

Compare two worked cases

Two audits. Both are examples.

Both cases are examples, not records about a real person. The bars show the same numbers the free App computes.
