Order Your Pantry by What Expires Next, Not by Where It Sits — Free

List what you have with the date on each pack and the ticket orders the shelf by what goes off next, so the sweep is a sequence rather than a rummage.

What this replaces

A pantry list tells you to check dates without telling you which ones. This reads the dates you typed, orders them, and shows the gap between items, so two things expiring on the same weekend is visible in advance.

Tool note. This runs entirely in your browser — no account, no upload, no paid API key. Google NotebookLM is named as the free source-grounded reading path for the material you paste; its published free-tier terms were checked on 2026-09-13 and can change.

The four passes

01

Collect the smallest useful input

One item per line with the date printed on the pack.

02

Let the ticket order them

Each item is placed with the days between it and the one before.

03

Cook the first two lines this week

The top of the ticket is the food at risk.

04

Check the pack before you rely on it

Your eyes and nose decide; the ticket only orders dates.

Try it on the sweep ticket / shelf 2

The board below runs in your browser. It opens with a worked sample so the result is visible before you paste anything; switch scenarios, edit the text, or reset to the sample.

Everything you paste stays in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and no request leaves the page to generate the result; clearing site data removes anything saved locally.

What breaks, and what to do

Dates written as month only

A month without a year is read in the current year; write it out.

Items with no date found

They are marked TBC and sit at the top of the urgency lane.

Best-before versus use-by

The ticket does not distinguish them; that distinction is on the pack.

Go deeper — Sweep Ticket

The free board above is the whole loop. The paid tier keeps the arranged output so you do not rebuild it.

  • Printable ticket to take into the kitchen on its perforated edge — estimate: 9 minutes saved per sweep, basis: 8 items re-copied at ~68 seconds each
  • Saved local history so you can see what you wasted last month — estimate: 7 minutes saved per sweep, basis: re-entering 8 items at ~52 seconds each
