What this replaces
Reading plans tell you to start early. This divides the pages you actually have by the days actually left, weighted by what each book is worth, so the pace is a number you can test against one evening rather than a resolution.

The four passes
Collect the smallest useful input
A total page count, the due date, and one book per line with pages and a weight.
Let the gauge divide them
Each book gets a share and the pages it represents.
Test the per-day figure tonight
Read that many pages this evening; if it is not possible, the plan is not either.
Rerun after week one
Weights change once you know which book is actually slow going.
