Group a Ticket Queue Into Fixable Buckets — Free

Paste a week of tickets and the board groups them into buckets with counts, so what the queue is actually about is a tally rather than an argument in standup.

What this replaces

Ticket taxonomies are designed in advance and argued about forever. This groups the tickets you actually received and counts them, so the largest bucket is whichever one your customers chose, not whichever one the team guessed.

Tool note. This runs entirely in your browser — no account, no upload, no paid API key. Google NotebookLM is named as the free source-grounded reading path for the material you paste; its published free-tier terms were checked on 2026-09-13 and can change.

The four passes

01

Collect the smallest useful input

One ticket per line from the queue you want to read.

02

Let the board group them

Each bucket gets a count and a sample line.

03

Start with the largest bucket

That is where the week's effort should go.

04

Name an owner per bucket

A count without an owner is a fact, not a plan.

Try it on the queue board / week 41

The board below runs in your browser. It opens with a worked sample so the result is visible before you paste anything; switch scenarios, edit the text, or reset to the sample.

Everything you paste stays in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and no request leaves the page to generate the result; clearing site data removes anything saved locally.

What breaks, and what to do

Tickets spanning two buckets

A line can raise both counts; that is intentional.

Bucket names that do not match your product

Rename them in a copy or the counts will not help.

Very short subjects

One-word subjects may land in Unsorted; paste the body instead.

Go deeper — Queue Board

The free board above is the whole loop. The paid tier keeps the arranged output so you do not rebuild it.

  • Printable board with the buckets boxed for standup — estimate: 14 minutes saved per week, basis: 4 buckets re-tallied at ~3.5 minutes each
  • CSV export of every ticket with its bucket — estimate: 20 minutes saved per week, basis: 45 tickets hand-sorted at ~27 seconds each
