Check Walking-Leg Times Against Your Hours Available — Free
A route on a map is distance; a day on foot is minutes. Multiply each leg’s distance by the pace you actually walk, total the minutes, and compare them with the hours in the day you have left.
The proof surface
Layover calculators work out the usable hours inside a connection. This applies the same honesty to a walking day: how many minutes the legs really consume at your measured pace, against the walking window the day offers.
Why the flat version breaks
Using one pace for every leg
Cobbles, hills and photo stops change pace by minutes per kilometre.
Forgetting the return leg
A route planned one way doubles the minutes nobody budgeted.
Walking against a closing time
A feasible duration that arrives after the last bus is a different failure.
How to work the walk time docket
Break the walk where the terrain or pace changes — harbour path, old town cobbles, hill return — and give each leg its own distance.
Fifteen minutes per kilometre is a brisk flat-ground pace; eighteen and above is reasonable with a hill, a camera or children. Measure from a walk you remember, not a fitness target. Keep this a flat-ground pace: put climbing minutes in the walking route ascent time allowance, not in the pace.
The day’s window after breakfast, museum tickets and dinner reservations. Two hours of walking inside a ten-hour day is two hours, not ten.
The docket totals the walk minutes and flags any leg exceeding the whole window alone. Two hundred and twenty-five minutes of legs against a two-hour window is a route decision, not a stamina question.

Input is processed locally and a draft is saved automatically in this browser profile when storage is available. Reset to sample clears that draft; Pro history has its own clear button. A state link encodes your inputs in its URL: share only non-sensitive rows. Browser history, clipboard and anyone receiving the link may retain it. Optional AI use below leaves this device; it is not required.
Duration arithmetic on the distances and paces you supply. Not a route guide, fitness assessment or navigation authority; check terrain, access and transport against current maps and local advice, and match the plan to your own health needs. Elevation gain is deliberately outside this check — plan it in the ascent-time allowance tool linked in the method.
Data note: Everything runs in this browser tab on the walk time docket: your walking leg | distance units | pace minutes per unit stays on this device, nothing is uploaded, and the reading is rebuilt only when you press run.
Go deeper: the companion app files the same reading as a clerk's docket sheet
The article demo above runs without limits. The companion app keeps a local history, exports the rows as CSV, prints the walk time docket reading, and holds your drafts on this device — one free run, then $ 4 one-time for the layer that keeps filing.
The walk time docket reading is complete for free. The optional $4 layer adds print, row CSV and the last five local reading summaries; it does not add hidden answers. Checkout is not configured yet; the article demo remains unlimited.

Do not guess missing values; list questions separately. Do not calculate or add advice. I will check every row before pasting into the local tool.
Accepted schema: walking leg | distance units | pace minutes per unit. No AI response is executed as code.
