Plan a Board Game Night Against the Minutes You Have — Free

One long game can quietly consume the whole evening you set aside. Multiply each game out, compare it with the window you actually have, and let the table decide before anyone opens the box.

The proof surface

The family game-turn tool checks whether everyone gets fair turns. This estimates planned playing minutes per game and flags a single game longer than the whole evening window.

Sample, not your facts: Illustrative sample: Quick card game | 3 | 8; Family board game | 1 | 75. With evening minutes available set to 60, total planned minutes is 99.00 planned minutes.

Why the flat version breaks

Trusting the box time

Printed durations usually exclude teaching and setup.

Timing one fast round

A single lucky round is not a typical pace.

Treating the total as a curfew

The evening window is your choice; end the game when people want to stop.

How to work the game night card

Agree the evening window

Enter the minutes between the first start and the point you want to stop, not the time until bedtime. The illustrative 60 minutes is a household choice, not a bedtime recommendation.

Use realistic round lengths

Time two or three real rounds rather than the box estimate, which usually assumes fast experienced players. Multiply rounds by minutes per round for each game on the table.

Read the flag as schedule information

A game at 75 minutes exceeds a 60-minute window on its own, so it is flagged. The total for the sample is 99 planned minutes across both games, which is more than the window even though only one row overruns.

Pick the combination you will finish

Drop, shorten or move a flagged game, then recheck the total against the window. The arithmetic says nothing about what anyone will enjoy, and nobody should be pushed to keep playing.

FIRST-LOAD

Research prototype — checkout unavailable. Input is processed locally and a draft is saved automatically in this browser profile when storage is available. Reset to sample clears that draft; Pro history has its own clear button. A state link encodes your inputs in its URL: share only non-sensitive rows. Browser history, clipboard and anyone receiving the link may retain it. Optional AI use below leaves this device; it is not required.

This is schedule arithmetic from numbers you supply. It is not advice about anybody’s bedtime, screen time or sleep, and it makes no claim about a game’s content or suitability.

Data note: Everything runs in this browser tab on the game night card: your game | rounds | minutes per round stays on this device, nothing is uploaded, and the reading is rebuilt only when you press run.

Go deeper: the companion app files the same reading as a index card with a stamped header

The article demo above runs without limits. The companion app keeps a local history, exports the rows as CSV, prints the game night card reading, and holds your drafts on this device — one complete free run; the proposed $4 one-time filing layer is not currently for sale.

The game night card reading is complete for free. The optional $4 layer adds print, row CSV and the last five local reading summaries; it does not add hidden answers. Checkout is not configured yet; the article demo remains unlimited.

What this is built on

Before: Printed durations usually exclude teaching and setup. After: the game night card shows the working beside each named row so the reader can change the assumption and inspect the consequence.

Optional AI formatting, not calculation

For this game night card, use the free AI Studio interface only if available to you, with no paid API key. Manual entry completes the same workflow for free. Supply only fictional or non-sensitive notes. Review its output against the source; never paste unresolved questions into the numeric rows.

Format my non-sensitive notes for a game night card. Return plain rows only: game | rounds | minutes per round. Preserve supplied quantities exactly. Do not guess missing values; list questions separately. Do not calculate or add advice. I will check every row before pasting into the local tool.

Accepted schema: game | rounds | minutes per round. No AI response is executed as code.
